MADISON, Wis. — Jeremy Amundson, who has spent the last five years as the assistant equipment manager for the Wisconsin football team, has been named head football equipment manager UW Associate Athletic Director for Administration Jeff Schmidt announced.
"Jeremy has done a tremendous job for us since he returned to UW and we are extremely happy that he will now oversee our football equipment room," Schmidt said. "He has great experience, a terrific work ethic and is dedicated to helping provide a wonderful experience for our student-athletes."
Amundson takes over for Mark Peeler, the Badger football team's long-time equipment manager, who was named UW's Director of Equipment Operations in September. In Amundson's new role, he will oversee the entire equipment operation for the football team, including distribution of apparel, locker room oversight, maintaining and reconditioning equipment and packing and transportation of apparel and equipment for road games and bowl games.
Amundson, a 2002 graduate of UW-Madison, returned to the Badgers in July, 2012. As the assistant equipment manager for football he was responsible for ordering equipment and uniforms for the football program, fitting and maintaining the team's helmets and pads, and attending all practices and games to attend to any equipment issues that may arise. He also supervised a student manager staff of 15 and forecasted the operational budget for the equipment needs of the football team.
Amundson started his career as an equipment room intern at Bowling Green, working with the football, volleyball and men's and women's basketball teams. He then spent seven years as the equipment coordinator at Ashland University, overseeing the equipment operations for 18 varsity sports as well as junior varsity football.
