Quotable

"No matter what you say to your players, they know it is not just another match. You lose and your season is over. You try to settle into your routine. This match wasn't going to be decided in the first 10 minutes. Whatever happens we wanted to get stronger and better throughout the match, and we did that.

"I thought we got stronger as the match went on and we played well at the end. Grace (Loberg) did a great job and everybody else we subbed in came in and did their job."

-Head Coach Kelli Sheffield

"We had some jitters. That is natural. We had some young people playing in their first NCAA tournament game. Our goal was to get stronger throughout the match and we did that. We really put the hammer down. We punched hard when they were punching. I am happy the team responded the way they did. Early leads are big because it's hard to come out of that hole."

-Outside hitter Kelli Bates

It was over when

After winning the first two sets, the Badgers dominated the third game to secure a spot in the second round. Strong serving and a explosive offensive presence gave UW a 25-11 set win. Marquette scored the first point of the set but the Badgers went on a 5-0 run to lead 5-1 and never look back. Wisconsin hit .583 (15-1-24) with Grace Loberg collecting five kills.
