Weekend outlook at the Midlands Championships
December 27, 2017 | Wrestling
Sixteen wrestlers will represent UW at the 55th annual tournament
MADISON, Wis.- After a small break over the holidays, Wisconsin wrestling is back in action heading to compete in the annual Midlands Championships on Friday and Saturday. In total, the Badgers will be facing 37 other Division I programs in the tournament's 55th showing.
"This weekend is great because we will run into a lot of competition that our guys will see at the NCAA tournament in March", Volunteer assistant coach Camden Eppert said. "Midlands is also really special in that we get to see a lot of redshirts and unattached competition looking to prove themselves to the country. We have three guys just like that and I cannot wait for them to get after it. This tournament will test all of our guys from their first match to their last and we want them to go into it like any other tournament; ready to battle and give their full effort no matter who steps on that other line."
UW will be sending 16 wrestlers to the tournament (13 attached and 3 unattached) across eight weight classes as follows:
