EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Wisconsin women's tennis team continued to face adversity on the road, dropping its second match of the weekend, 4-0, to Michigan State.
So far this season, the Badgers have not been able to snatch a win while on the road. This match proved particularly difficult as UW did not win any set.
A good effort was shown by the Badger duo Sydney Rider and Christina Zordani on the doubles court. They managed to hold close to their MSU opponents, Lexi Baylis and Aslina Chua, trailing 5-4, but unfortunately the Spartans claimed the doubles point before their match was complete. Â
Though unable to clinch her match in singles, freshman Melissa Pick continued to show resilience in her first collegiate season. Trailing MSU's Athena Trouillot early in the first set, 4-2, Pick fired back and brought the match to 5-5. Although she put up a good fight, she ultimately fell 7-5 in the first set. Her comeback effort then ended prematurely as the dual match was clinched by Michigan State. Â
The Badgers resume play in two weeks in Madison. UW first hosts Indiana on Friday, April 14 starting at 5 p.m. (CT), before taking on Purdue on Sunday, April 16 at 11 a.m. (CT). Both matches will be at Nielsen.
