Breaking the Ice … with Kyle Hayton
September 14, 2017 | Men's Hockey
MADISON, Wis. -- With the 2017-18 Wisconsin men's hockey season right around the corner, UWBadgers.com goes beyond what fans will see on the ice this season to introduce the eight newest members of the Badgers' incoming class by exploring their personalities, likes and dislikes.
The final player in this year's series is goaltender Kyle Hayton.
Hayton joins the Badgers as a graduate transfer from St. Lawrence University, arriving off of a record-setting career for the Saints. A native of Denver, Colorado, Hayton was named a 2017 Second-Team All-American and the ECAC Goaltender of the Year, starting 35 of the Saints' 37 games while leading the conference with his .929 save percentage and five shutouts during the 2016-17 season. In three years at SLU, the left-handed netminder established himself as the program leader in career (13) and season (5) shutouts, as well as ranking second in career appearances (104), wins (54) and career goals-against average (2.09).
Hayton will wear jersey No. 33 this season. He joins Dave McNab, Tim Sager, Mike Cerniglia, Brett Bennett and Joel Rumpel, among others, in donning No. 33 for the Badgers.
