MADISON, Wis. -- The sophomore trio of Abby Roque, Maddie Rowe and Presley Norby each tallied goals to lead the No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team to a 4-0 victory over St. Cloud State Saturday at LaBahn Arena.  

Less than 90 seconds into the opening frame, Roque redirected a loose puck past SCSU (6-16-3, 4-12-2-0 WCHA) goaltender Janine Alder to give Wisconsin (25-1-1, 15-0-1-0 WCHA) an early 1-0 lead. 

Midway through the first period, the sophomore class struck again when Rowe fired a back-handed feed from Roque past Alder to double the Badgers' lead. 

Rowe notched her second goal of the afternoon after knocking home a shot from senior Maddie Rolfes to put Wisconsin up, 3-0, with four minutes remaining in the second stanza. 

Norby rounded out the scoring for the Badgers with a goal late in the second period to extend Wisconsin's lead to 4-0. 

Three notes of the game: 
- The Badgers tallied a season-high 57 shots against the Huskies and outshot St. Cloud State, 26-1, in the third period.
- Maddie Rowe has recorded at least a point in six of the Badgers' last seven contests, including three points in today's game. The forward has tallied 15 points from six goals and nine assists so far this season. 
- Senior Baylee Wellhausen recorded a career high three assists.   

Play of the game:
In the opening minutes of the second period, sophomore goaltender Kristen Campbell denied a 2-on-1 scoring chance for St. Cloud State after stuffing not one, but two shots from the Huskies. Campbell, who stopped all 13 SCSU shots, earned her NCAA-leading ninth shutout with the win.

On the game as a whole:
"It was a good game. I liked the energy. I liked the pace of the game. The emphasis was trying to get the puck to the net and create some scoring opportunities with some rebounds. The goaltender in the last five or six games has played well, and especially so in the third period. They defend well, and they block shots, so we have to be able to counter those types of things."

On Abby Roque's performance:
"Some of the things from last weekend we've tried to kickstart. We've tried to get Abby the puck more and give her more opportunities, and she showcased some today. She gets the first goal and then sets up the second one. When the puck's on her stick, that's a good thing for us because we know good things are going to happen and plays are going to be made."

On the Badgers' performance:
"We came out really hard today after we got pushed by Bemidji and we were able to push back with a great team effort."

On having great defense:
"I think we really tightened things up from last weekend, and we didn't give them much time or space with the puck. So I think the D really stepped up and played big tonight."

On her two-goal game:
"Got to give a lot of credit to Abby and Baylee, it was really nice to play with them today and they really helped me out getting those two goals." 

On what is clicking for her line:
"We had a lot of chemistry going in from practice and it feels good playing with each other. I think today we just knew where we were on the ice and we found each other's sticks and it worked out."

"I do feel really comfortable. It's nice to play with other players who know what to do with the puck and who know where to be and support you. Just the encouragement too goes a long way."

On playing at home:
It's always nice being at home, the crowd always helps us. And we just need to string it together on the road and consistently get pucks in the back of the nets
