MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin (7-10, 0-4) takes to the Big Ten road, traveling to Evanston, Illinois, on Thursday for a game at Northwestern (8-10, 1-3). Tip time is 7 p.m. from Evanston Township High School since Welsh-Ryan Arena is under renovations.
UW returns home on Sunday to host Penn State (10-7, 1-3) at 1 p.m. in the Kohl Center. The game airs live on the Big Ten Network.
UW's game at Northwestern will be streamed on both BTN Plus and FLOHoops, while the Badgers' game against Penn State will be on the Big Ten Network. 1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers wrapped up a tough Big Ten-opening stretch, falling to 0-4 in the conference after losing to No. 13 Maryland, 71-44, on Sunday in the Kohl Center. Wisconsin played three ranked teams in its first four conference games.
2. COMPETING AGAINST THE BEST: The Badgers held the Terrapins to their third-lowest point total of the season, well below their season average of 88 points per game. Wisconsin ranks fifth in Big Ten-only games, allowing opponents to average 66 points per game.
3. FULL COURT PRESS: Sophomore Courtney Fredrickson has led the Badgers in scoring the last two games after tallying a team-high 12 points against Maryland. It marked her sixth-straight game in double figures as she averages 11.7 points per game over the span. The 6-2 forward ranks 30th in Big Ten-only games, averaging 12 points per game.
4. THE BLOCK RIGHT OFF ABBY ROAD: Sophomore Abby Laszewski has recorded three-or-more blocks in three of the last four games. The 6-3 post ties for fifth in Big Ten-only games with 2.5 blocks per game as the Badgers rank fifth in conference-only games with 5.0 blocks per game.
5. SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: Northwestern is 8-10 on the season and 1-3 in Big Ten play. The Wildcats' only conference win was over Illinois (74-59) on New Years Eve. Northwestern on a two-game losing streak since then, falling 81-51 to Michigan State and 69-59 to Nebraska on Sunday. The Wildcats hold a 4-5 record at home, playing at Evanston Township High School's historic Beardsley Gym while Welsh-Ryan Arena undergoes a renovation.
