MADISON, Wis. – Just nine days after an epic five-set showdown between the fifth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team and No. 14 Michigan, the two teams face off once again this weekend in the UW Field House. The Badgers and Wolverines play Sunday at 1 p.m.
1. ROCKIN' RETTKE: On Wednesday, sophomore
Dana Rettke tallied a school-record 30 kills against the Golden Gophers. Rettke is the third player in the Big Ten this year to get 30 or more kills in a match and the only one to do so in a four-set match.Â
2. AGAINST THE TOP 25: The Badgers are one of only seven teams in the nation and one of three teams in the Big Ten to defeat six or more ranked teams this season. After going 4-8 against ranked teams in 2017, Wisconsin is 6-4 against the top 25 this season.
Â
3. WELCOME TO THE TOP 10: Sophomore
Sydney Hilley recorded 56 assists against Minnesota on Wednesday, just one off her career high, to bring her career total to 2,224, which moves her into 10th on the UW career record list.
Â
4. WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE: Wisconsin is only four wins away from victory No. 400 in the UW Field House. The Badgers began playing in the Field House in 1977 but the building did not become the team's permanent home until 1986. UW is currently 396-155 in the facility.
Â
5. SCOUTING MICHIGAN: The Wolverines have lost four of their last five conference matches for an 18-6 record overall and 7-6 record in the Big Ten. Last time against the Badgers, senior outside hitter Carly Skjodt recorded 27 kills for Michigan. On the season, she averages 4.16 kills per set and is her team's top target with 990 total attempts this season. Skjodt also aced UW three times in Ann Arbor to give Michigan a 6-3 advantage behind the service line.
