MADISON, Wis. -- Junior Sam Cogan and Senior Claudia Kepler each scored two goals to lead the No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team past No. 7 Minnesota in a 4-3 thriller Friday night at LaBahn Arena. 

Minnesota (20-9-3, 16-7-3-2 WCHA) controlled much of the first period, racing out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of back-to-back goals from senior defenseman Sydney Baldwin. 

Wisconsin's (28-3-2, 19-2-2-2 WCHA) comeback began early in the second frame when Cogan notched her first goal of the night to make it 2-1 in the opening minutes of the period. 

Minnesota freshman Grace Zumwinkle stretched the Gophers' lead back to two after scoring on an odd-man rush to make it 3-2 with 16 minutes to play in the second period.

However, Cogan added her second tally of the night late in the second period to spark a three-goal scoring run for the Badgers. 

Kepler added her name to the scoresheet after burying her seventh power-play goal of the season just seconds into the third period to tie the game at three apiece. 

With six minutes remaining, Kepler rocketed the game-winner past Minnesota netminder Sidney Peters to extend UW's unbeaten streak to six games against the Golden Gophers.

Three notes of the game

• Four Badgers tallied multi-point games in tonight's win over Minnesota. Cogan paced UW's offense, ending the night with two goals and an assist, and a +2 plus/minus rating. 
• Minnesota was held to a season-low 15 shots. The last time Minnesota was held to less than 20 shots was in October when the Badgers held the Gophers to 17 shots. 
• Thanks to the comeback win, UW extended its LaBahn Arena unbeaten streak to 25 games.

At the 5:58 mark of the final period, Kepler secured her team-leading 20th goal after launching a rocket from the circle to give the Badgers a 4-3 lead over the Gophers.

On tonight's win:
"The nice thing about where we are right now is that we are at home. This season is a long grind and the kids knew we were going to play in-front of a sell-out home crowd playing against Minnesota. We had a good week of practices and from our standpoint we knew we were going to have an opportunity today and just didn't know what it was going to look like, and we saw how it looked and went after it."

On the rivalry and Senior Day on Saturday:
"It's senior day, it's game 34, you try and build momentum and certainly the players are going to feel good coming off tonight's win and now it's just a matter of getting fired up and excited. We're going to have a big crowd and the energy in the building is going to help us do that."

On the future:
"We're focused on tomorrow and wrapping the regular season up and the nice part of our position is we have a bye week next weekend. It's certainly going to help us."

"That was super satisfying. Coming back from a 3-1 deficit is great for our team, because now we know, if we ever find ourselves in that situation again, we can definitely come back."

On Claudia Kepler's performance:
"She can shoot. She has a crazy shot. If I was a goalie, I would not want to stand in front of that shot ever. She's a great player, and it showed tonight."

On how she felt following her game-winning goal:
"That was amazing, it really was awesome. After that last goal, I just thought about how I was really proud of our team. The way we fought. The way we battled. Coming back from down 2-0, then 3-1, we just slowly worked our way back and just continued to compete all game."

On the team's focus moving forward:
"That was a fun hockey game, but we need to move on to the next one now."
