MADISON, Wis.- Entering the weekend with two final home duals before the end of the regular season, No. 18 Wisconsin wrestling welcomed No. 21 Rutgers into the UW Field House on Friday. The Scarlet Knights (7-7, 3-6) defeated the Badgers, taking seven of 10 matches en route to a 24-12 victory. Rutgers took six of their seven victories via decision, with only Shane Metzler's pin over Johnny Jimenez as the source of bonus points.

"Again we couldn't pull out the tight matches," head coach Barry Davis said. "We knew they would be tough coming in and that they had a good group of guys and the matches would be close, just unfortunately we weren't able to pull them out tonight. We have one [dual] left, and we have to finish strong heading into March."

Hunter Ritter continues to be on a hot streak at 197 pounds, taking another conference victory over Anthony Messner with a fall in 2:53. The sophomore is now 21-7 on the season, a winner of seven-straight matches and is 8-0 in Big Ten duals.

Ryan Christensen pulled out a nail-biter against Joe Grello at 174 pounds, with a Wisconsin challenge taking away the Scarlet Knights' near-fall points. Christensen then got a late reversal and was able to hold on for the 3-2 decision victory.

Sophomore Eli Stickley got himself back on track, edging out Michael Van Brill 3-2 at 141 pounds. Like his 174-pound teammate, Stickley got a late reversal to seal himself the victory.

The Badgers will be back in action in just a day-and-a-half, with No. 22 Purdue stopping into Madison at noon (CT) on Sunday for UW's senior day.
