AWENDAW, S.C. -- Riding career-low rounds from three players, the Wisconsin men's golf team tied the second-best 18-hole score in program history on Tuesday, shooting an 11-under par round of 277 in the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational in Awendaw, S.C.

Junior Jordan Hahn tied his personal best with a 5-under 67 to finish the tournament at 9-under par, good for fourth place. Hahn's 54-hole score of 207 (70-70-67) is tied for fifth-best in school history. It's the best three-round total for a Badger since Dan Woltman shot a 202 at the VCU/Mattaponi Shootout in September of 2006. Hahn, who birdied four of his last six holes, recorded the fourth top-five finish of his career.

As a team, the Badgers tied for sixth place in a field that included eight top-50 teams. UW tied No. 9 Auburn and finished ahead of No. 36 NC State, No. 37 South Carolina and No. 42 Louisville. Wisconsin's three-round total of 858 (289-292-277) tied the program's second-best 54-hole score in the last 10 years. The final round 277 was UW's best since shooting a 276 in the second round of the 2004 Northern Intercollegiate at University Ridge. 

"It was a great week for us overall," UW head coach Michael Burcin said. "We battled brutal conditions the first two days but the wind died down today and it was obvious that we had to make some birdies to keep up with this tremendous field. To be able to do that when it is needed is a tremendous sign."

Sophomore Pete Kuhl and freshman Griffin Barela also tied their career low rounds on Tuesday. Kuhl shot a 4-under par 68, his third career round in the 60s. His 54-hole total of 218 (79-71-68) ties his best score this season and was good for a share of 29th place. 

Barela's 69 tied his low this season, matching his third-round score in the season-opening Badger Invitational. He finished in a tie for 22nd at 1-under par (70-76-69=215).

Senior Eddie Wajda recorded his second 73 of the tournament and finished in a tie for 47th at 5-over par (73-75-73=221). Freshman Sam Anderson placed 69th at +14 (76-76-78=230).

"I'm really proud of these guys," Burcin added. "They deserve the success because of all the hard work they put in. This will be a great spring board into next weekend."

The Badgers wrap up Spring Break on Saturday and Sunday at the D.A. Weibring Invitational in Normal, Illinois.
