MINNEAPOLIS — The Wisconsin men's golf team finished 11th (+19) at the Gopher Invitational Monday after
Jacob Beckman shot a final-round 69 at the Windsong Farm Golf Club in Minneapolis.
The senior fired a bogey-less -2 round to jump 29 spots and finish 20th. He notched birdies on each nine, while grinding out pars the rest of the way.
James Boustead, who posted a personal-best 68 in yesterday's second-round, earned his first-career top 10 finish, coming in ninth. He posted a 74 in the final round to go -1 on the card, and come in as the Badgers' top finisher.
William Harned, UW's top preseason qualifier, finished 38th with a consistent 72-74-74 showing, shooting +7 overall. He birdied the last hole of the day to notch a +3 round.
Spencer Turtz and Charlie Erlandson finished one shot apart, coming in at +10 and +11, respectively. The pair both shot +4 during the final round.
From the Course -- Head Coach Mike Wilson: "It's a decent start to the season for us. We learned a lot this week and will continue to get better. James [Boustead] had an excellent week, showing that he can compete at a high level. Jacob's bogey-free final round was one of the best of his career, considering the conditions. We will bounce back and the guys are already getting geared up for the Badger Invite."
Up Next: UW returns home to play host to the Badger Invitaitonal, teeing off on Sept. 22 at TPC Wisconsin. Admission is open and free to the public.
