NAPA, California -- Senior Aya Johnson shot a 1-under par 71 in the final round to lead the Wisconsin women's golf team at the nationally competitive Silverado Showdown in Napa, California.
The Badgers tied for 14th at the tournament, which featured seven top-15 nationally ranked competitors and five other teams in the top 50.
On a beautiful final day in Napa, Johnson recorded a 71 (-1) to give the Badgers their best round score of the tournament with a 293. Johnson finished the tournament tied for 28th place, scoring a 221 (+5). Senior Lexi Harkins joined Johnson in the top 50, tying for 45th place with a 224 (+8).
Wisconsin's tie for 14th was good enough to beat out No. 37 UNLV and finish with a 898 (+34).
No. 8 Southern California grabbed first shooting a 859 (-5), 10 strokes ahead of the next closest competitor.Â
