Badgers add event before B1G Championships
MADISON, Wis. —  The Wisconsin men's golf team travels to Columbus, Ohio to compete at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, April 21-22, in the Badgers' final event before the Big Ten Championships.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: Rain, strong wind gusts and freezing temperatures ended the Wisconsin men's golf team's time at the Boilermaker Invitational one round early Sunday, leaving the Badgers in a tie for 12th place. Wisconsin was led by Junior Jordan Hahn who scored a 146 (+2) and tied for 20th individually.
2. The Buckeye State: UW travels to Columbus, Ohio for the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Big Ten rival Ohio State. This weekend's intercollegiate is the 48th running of the event and will be played on Ohio State's Scarlet Course. The course is rated as one of the best collegiate courses in the United States, most recently renovated by golf legend, Jack Nicklaus, in 2006.
3. The Lineup: The Badgers will travel Hahn, sophomore Pete Kuhl, senior Eddie Wajda and freshmen Griffin Barela and Sam Anderson to Columbus this weekend.
4. The Competition:Â Wisconsin will face Ball State, Bowling Green, Colgate, Francis Marion, Illinois, Iowa, Kent State Miami (OH), Michigan State, Northern, Illinois, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Xavier.
5. Thoughts from Coach Burcin:Â
"We are excited to head to Ohio State this weekend and fortunate that they invited us after being rained out last Sunday at Purdue. The kids will see another fantastic golf course and a tough test against a great field. This should serve as a great preparation for Big Tens as we look for some depth at the bottom of the lineup. Jordan, Griff and Pete have really been rock solid for us during the spring as each of them has been very consistent."
