MADISON, Wis. -- Senior Gabby Curtis shot a career-low 67 and is tied for first after the first day of the NCAA Madison Regional at University Ridge Golf Course. As a team, the Badgers finished at +2 and are in sixth place in the team standings.

Curtis made six birdies over her last 10 holes. Her 67 is the second-lowest round by a Badger in NCAA Regional competition (Kris Yoo shot a 65 in the 2013 Central Regional) and the second lowest by a UW women's golfer at University Ridge (Jessie Gerry shot a 66 in the 2008 Badger Invitational).

Seniors Lexi Harkins and Becky Klongland both shot 1-over par 73s and are tied for 26th place. Junior Jessica Reinecke finished day one in a tie for 66th at +5 while senior Aya Johnson was one shot back.

Wisconsin's 290 was the best score for a Big Ten team, two shots ahead of Illinois, three up on Ohio State and four ahead of Northwestern.

Tomorrow's second round tees off at 8 a.m. CT. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.
