MADISON, Wis. -- Senior
Gabby Curtis shot a career-low 67 and is tied for first after the first day of the NCAA Madison Regional at University Ridge Golf Course. As a team, the Badgers finished at +2 and are in sixth place in the team standings.
Curtis made six birdies over her last 10 holes. Her 67 is the second-lowest round by a Badger in NCAA Regional competition (Kris Yoo shot a 65 in the 2013 Central Regional) and the second lowest by a UW women's golfer at University Ridge (Jessie Gerry shot a 66 in the 2008 Badger Invitational).Â
Seniors
Lexi Harkins and
Becky Klongland both shot 1-over par 73s and are tied for 26th place. Junior
Jessica Reinecke finished day one in a tie for 66th at +5 while senior
Aya Johnson was one shot back.
Wisconsin's 290 was the best score for a Big Ten team, two shots ahead of Illinois, three up on Ohio State and four ahead of Northwestern.Â
