October 24, 2018 | Men's Hockey
MADISON, Wis. – As the start of the 2018-19 Wisconsin men's hockey season nears, UWBadgers.com delves deeper into both the on and off-ice lives of each of UW's nine newest skaters, exploring topics ranging from favorite hockey memories to what they would ask for if they had one wish.
Closing out this season's "Breaking the Ice" series is Minnetonka, Minnesota, native K'Andre Miller.
Miller spent the last two seasons with the National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Michigan. With the Under-18 squad, Miller tallied nine goals and 29 points, ranking third among blueliners in point-scoring. Also among the top defensemen on the Under-17 team, Miller registered three goals and 18 points during the 2016-17 campaign. In international competition, Miller appeared in four Five Nations Tournaments, and helped the Under-18 squad to a gold medal at the most recent tournament this past February. Miller also suited up for the World Under-17 Challenge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Before joining the NTDP, the six-foot four-inch defenseman played prep hockey at Minnetonka High School, tallying five goals and eleven assists and earning All-Lake Conference Team and Star Tribune All-Metro Third Team honors in 2016. In June of 2018, Miller became 13th Wisconsin skater to be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft, going to the New York Rangers with the 22nd pick.
Miller will wear the No. 19 jersey this season. He joins former Badgers Scott Mellanby, Brian Mullen and Jake Gardiner in wearing the number.Â
