MADISON, Wis. – Dual season is arriving in a big way for the Wisconsin women's tennis team as it hosts three different teams this weekend at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Badgers and head coach
Kelcy McKenna, entering her third season, welcome in Omaha-Nebraska, Illinois-Chicago and Colorado State to begin the 2019 season
1. PLAN THE WEEKEND: Wisconsin will take on Omaha-Nebraska and Illinois-Chicago in a doubleheader on Friday, Jan. 25. The match versus the Mavericks of Omaha-Nebraska is scheduled to begin at Noon (CT) with doubles play beginning first. Wisconsin will then compete against Illinois-Chicago at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Wisconsin is back at Nielsen to host Colorado State, with that match beginning at 11 a.m.
2. A LOOK BACK: Wisconsin last competed two weeks ago when it traveled to Miami to partake in the FIU Spring Invitational. Wisconsin faced off against both Florida International and Iowa State in doubles and singles play. The Badgers left that weekend with a 12-2 singles record.
3. 2018 REWIND: Wisconsin wrapped up the 2018 dual season with a 9-14 record, including a 6-6 record at home and a 3-6 road record. The Badgers opened up the season with a 6-0 record before entering the ITA National Team Indoor Championships where they took on No. 8 Florida, No. 21 Wake Forest and No. 10 Michigan, suffering defeat in all three matches. In conference play Wisconsin posted a 3-8 record, defeating Rutgers and Maryland in back-to-back matches and ending the season with a 4-1 win at Iowa.
4. NEW FACES: This is the first time in program history that Wisconsin will compete against Nebraska-Omaha and Illinois-Chicago. The Badgers have met Colorado State three times previously and hold a 3-0 record against the Rams. The most recent meeting came in 2018 when Wisconsin hosted Colorado State, defeating it 4-1.
