MADISON, Wis. — No. 22 Wisconsin will resume Big Ten play with a home game against Minnesota on Jan. 3. Wisconsin has won eight straight over the Gophers and seven in a row at home.
Up next, the Badgers will play at Penn State on Sunday, Jan. 6. Wisconsin has won 10 straight over PSU, including six in a row in University Park, Pa.
1. BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT: Wisconsin is one of just five teams ranked in the top 20 for both offensive (19th) and defensive (17th) efficiency according to KenPom.com.
2. ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR HAPP:Â
Ethan Happ recently became the 15th player in Big Ten history with 1,000 career boards. With 1,791 points, he has moved into 5th place on Wisconsin's all-time scoring chart. The Preseason AP All-American ranks second in the nation in double-doubles (10) and ranks among the Big Ten's top four in scoring (19.2 ppg), rebounds (10.6 rpg) and assists (4.8 apg).
3. 'NET' GAINS:Â Wisconsin is currently No. 13 in the NCAA's NET rankings and is one of just three teams with four Quadrant 1 wins this season (also Duke and Michigan). The Badgers are 3-2 against teams currently ranked in the AP Top 25.
4. D'MITRIK THRICE:Â After missing the final 23 games of last season,
D'Mitrik Trice is making up for lost time this year. The sophomore leads the Big Ten and ranks eighth in the nation, shooting 50.7% from 3-point range (37-73 3FG). Trice also ranks 17th in the Big Ten averaging 15.5 ppg, an increase of 6.1 ppg from last year's injury-shortened average of 9.4 ppg.
5. DANGEROUS DAVISON:Â
Brad Davison is starting to heat up. Over the last three games, the sophomore is averaging 19.0 ppg, scoring 24 against Savannah State and 26 at Western Kentucky. On the season, Davison is averaging 10.5 ppg and ranks second on the Badgers shooting 39.2% from 3-point range (20-51 3FG).
