Redshirt freshman forward undergoes season-ending knee surgery
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin redshirt freshman forward Joe Hedstrom underwent successful knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season, as announced by the UW Sports Medicine staff on Saturday.
Hedstrom appeared in six games for the Badgers this season. The Hopkins, Minnesota native scored the first two points of his career and grabbed a rebound in a win over Green Bay on Nov. 21.
As a prep at Hopkins High School, Hedstrom averaged 14.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game his senior season, helping to lead the Royals to a 26-2 record and a final national rank of No. 38. He was recognized as a Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association All-Star.
