Manchon, Birchenough, Stoll post personal records to open Ohio State Invitational
COLUMBUS, Ohio- Not one, not two, but three personal records were broken in Columbus, Ohio, as members of the Wisconsin women's swimming team competed on the first day of the Ohio State Winter Invitational.Â
Â
Molly Manchon's time of 56.67 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly prelims would have stood as a personal best for the senior from Waukesha, Wisconsin, but then the finals happened.Â
Â
Manchon clocked in at 56.57 in the 100 fly "A" final, good for a new personal best and an eighth-place finish.
Â
Freshman Claire Birchenough also tallied a personal record, pushing the pace with a finals-qualifying mark of 1:03.46 in the 100 breaststroke.
Â
Birchenough would finish just shy of her PR in the final by placing fourth with a time of 1:03.49.Â
Â
After qualifying for 100 backstroke finals, freshman Holly Stoll's fourth-place finish of 55.98 secured another PR for the Badgers.Â
Â
Junior Kendall Smith was the Badgers' fifth-place finisher in the 100 free finals, clocking in at 51.30 seconds.Â
Â
Wisconsin looks to continue its record-breaking racing tomorrow, beginning with the 10 a.m. (CT) preliminary round and concluding with finals at 4 p.m.
