UW remains undefeated in spring action
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. – After losing the first set, the Wisconsin volleyball team was nearly unstoppable the rest of the match, remaining undefeated in its spring season with a 3-1 over Marquette at the Milwaukee Sting Center. The Badgers down the Golden Eagles on Friday night 18-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.
After falling in the first set, Wisconsin trailed at the start of the remaining three sets until pulling away.
Marquette gave the Badgers their toughest competition in the third set, where the Golden Eagles led 18-15. UW rallied to tie the set at 18 and again at 20 and 21 before scoring the last four points of the period to win.
Redshirt sophomore Molly Haggerty led the Badgers with 17 kills while Dana Rettke (11) and Madison Duello (10) also tallied double figures. Rettke led all hitters at .647 percent as UW hit .258 (54 kills – 15 errors – 132 attempts) as a team.
Junior Tiffany Clark led UW with 15 digs while sophomore Sydney Hilley recorded 14 saves as the Badgers finished with 54 team saves.
Rettke led the Badger blockers with three stuffs while Hilley and freshman Riley Bell both had one service ace.
Wisconsin wraps up its spring season on April 20 when it travels to Big Ten-foe Purdue. First serve is at 1 p.m. from Holloway Gymnasium in West Lafayette, Indiana.
