Austin Glynn had an impressive outing in California, earning discus and hammer throw marks that rank within the top-five in program history. The Onalaska, Wisconsin, native threw the hammer a whopping 217 feet, 5 inches at the Long Beach Invitational to move up to No. 3 all-time at UW. That mark also currently ranks third in the Big Ten conference. Glynn also earned the No. 4 all-time mark in the discus after posting a mark of 187-6 in the invitational section of the event, and became the only Badger to have discus and hammer throw marks that rank within the top-five in school history.
3. IT'S TAYLOR TIME: Jonathan Taylor, the Wisconsin football standout and 2018 Doak Walker Award recipient, will make his UW debut on the track on Friday as he will race in the 4x100 for the Cardinal and White. Taylor is no stranger to the Penn Relays as he led the Salem to the 4x100 title at the 2017 edition of the meet. The Salem, New Jersey, native holds a personal best in the 100 meters of 10.49, which came in his senior year of high school. Â
4. HOARE LEADS THE WORLD: In his outdoor season debut, Olli Hoare dominated the invitational 1500 meters event at the Bryan Clay Invitational, winning the race by a fraction of a second with a personal best and school-record time of 3 minutes, 37.20 seconds to edge out Arizona's Carlos Villareal. Hoare's time currently leads the world, the NCAA and the Big Ten conference, and it also ranks in the top-30 in Australian history.Â
For his efforts, Hoare was named the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this year.Â
5. HOME, SWEET HOME: Following the conclusion of the Penn Relays, the Badgers will return home to host the Wisconsin Alumni Classic on May 3 at the McClimon Track Complex. The Wisconsin Alumni Classic is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the throwing events.
