Milwaukee-area native ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf program has added another player to its 2019 signing class. UW head coach Michael Burcin announced Monday that Jack Blair, a native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin will attend the University of Wisconsin and play golf for the Badgers beginning in the fall of 2019.
"We are so thrilled to add Jack to this already strong class coming in the fall," Burcin said. "We feel this could be one of the most impactful freshman classes in the league with all three players ready to make an immediate impact."
"Jack has really taken off over the last 18 months. He works with former Badger David Roesch and comes from Marquette High School. Jack is very smart, works hard, and does a great job of looking within at his own game and making plans for what needs work. I am very excited to have him in red and white."
Blair is the top-ranked player in the state in the class of 2019 and qualified for the US Junior Amateur the last two years. In 2018, he advanced to the match play stage of the Junior Amateur. Blair led Marquette to consecutive WIAA state titles as a junior and senior, finishing second as an individual in 2019 and sixth in 2018. This summer, he won the AJGA's Wincraft/McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends tournament as he was the only player to break par in the 54-hole tournament.
"It's been a long journey and I can say that I could not be happier that I am becoming a Badger," Blair said. "The great mix of sports and academics excites me, but more than anything, I know the depth this team has in the coming years and I look forward to making some serious runs over the next four years."
