Zymkowitz and Verdun promoted as Associate Head Coaches
August 22, 2019 | Softball
Hard work and passion. Shockingly enough, these two traits can be hard to find in people. Then you add in a vast amount of talent, and it would seem like you would be asking for the world.
Well, that's not the case for head coach Yvette Healy. She's got not one, but two coaches in her regime that have those qualities and so much more that they bring to Goodman Diamond every single day. This is why Danielle Zymkowitz and Kirsten Verdun have officially been promoted to Associate Head Coaches for the 2020 season.
"We're excited to promote Danielle Zymkowitz and Kirsten Verdun to Associate Head Coaches for the 2020 season," Healy said.
In the last three seasons, Wisconsin softball has experienced unprecedented success, including three NCAA Regional appearances, six NCAA tournament wins, and advancing to the NCAA Regional Championship game, twice. The Badgers' earned three consecutive NCAA bids for the first time in program history and had the second-most wins in UW history last season with 43 victories.
"Coach Zymkowitz is a rising star in our profession. Her passion for the game, our student athletes and the University of Wisconsin is contagious," Healy added. "Coach Z knows how to win, and how to create a Championship experience for our athletes. She's a true student of the game, pulling best practices from top programs and organizations at Wisconsin and across the country.
"Coach Verdun has helped mold our pitchers in fearless competitors. Her confidence, drive and mental toughness have become a key part of every pitcher she works with. It has been an honor watching Coach Verdun grow in her career with the Badgers. Her leadership in recruiting, academics, pitching and offense have helped our program reach new heights."
The future of Badger Softball is bright and this is just the beginning for this coaching staff.
