Junior scores golden goal in overtime to lift UW past in-state rival
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's soccer forward Lauren Rice has a knack for game-winning goals, as the junior entered the 2019 season with five game-winning strikes.
Rice added to her total on Thursday at the McClimon Complex as scored her sixth career game-winning goal three minutes into the first overtime to lift the No. 15 Badgers to a 1-0 win over Marquette.
A native of Noblesville, Indiana, Rice skied a shot out of the reach of Marquette's (0-3-0) Maddy Henry to deliver the victory for the Badgers (2-1-0) thanks to assists from Dani Rhodes and Claire Shea off a Badger corner.

Notes to Know
- UW dominated play against Marquette, outshooting the Golden Eagles 18-1, including a 5-1 shots on goal advantage. The Badgers also had eight corner kicks to Marquette's one.
- Junior Jordyn Bloomer earned her second shutout of the season and the 10th of her Badger career.
- Wisconsin extends their home unbeaten streak to nine games, while also giving UW their fourth-straight victory over the Golden Eagles.
- The Badgers are now 9-5-2 all-time against in-state rival Marquette.
