MADISON, Wis. – In a Sunday night under the lights match at McClimon Soccer Complex, the Wisconsin men's soccer team (2-4-0) lost 1-0 against the Portland Pilots (3-2-1). The Badgers battled the foggy weather and slippery field conditions, but ultimately couldn't pull out the win to end the weekend.
Â
In the first half, the Pilots had eight shots, and the Badgers only one. Although the opposing team was able to put up more shots than UW, goalie,
Dean Cowdroy, played a huge role in keeping the first half scoreless by recording four saves.
Â
Cowdroy kept it scoreless early in the second half with a diving stop to the left, but the Pilots grabbed the lead shortly after.
Â
Despite playing down a man after a first-half red card, Portland set the early pace of the second half by scoring a goal in the 55th minute. The Badgers couldn't answer this goal for the rest of regulation and were defeated by the visiting Pilots.
