MADISON, Wis. - In a Tuesday night showing at McClimon Soccer Complex, the UW men's soccer team (2-6-0) had a tough loss against the Marquette Golden Eagles (3-3-1). The two Wisconsin teams played under the lights and in front of a large crowd of 1,507 people. Marquette came out with a 2-0 victory.
It was a slow start in the first half for both teams. Wisconsin goalie,
Dean Cowdroy, played a tremendous first 45 minutes, recording three saves for the Badgers. With a determined Marquette offense taking eight shots in the first half, Cowdroy was unable to stop a goal in the 36th minute from Marquette.
Badgers went into the second half down a goal. Their offense seemed to pick up the pace and had two looks near the net. Unfortunately the Golden Eagle's defense were able to shutout the Badgers for the remainder of the game. In the 65th minute, Marquette scored another goal and the score would stay 2-0 until the clock ran out.Â
