MADISON, Wis.- The Wisconsin men's cross-country team kicked off its season with a home opener on Friday. The last time the men raced on the Zimmer Championship Course, they left with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Badgers continued their positive streak, coming out hot.

Three Wisconsin runners were able to cross the finish line simultaneously, which aided in their win over DePaul. The three were
Zack Snider,
Andrew Schilling, and
Conor Perreault who finished the 8,000-meter race in an impressive 25 minutes, 38.6 seconds. Freshman
Kavanaugh FitzPatrick was able to come in at 26:00:3 to capture the fourth-place finish.

Having four of the top five finishers, the Badgers were able to pull out their first win of the season. The Badgers scored 17 points, just two points off a perfect score, while DePaul tallied 38 points.

Up NextÂ
The Badgers head to Indiana for the John McNichols Invitational on Sept. 21. The men's race starts at 9 a.m., with the women's 6,000-meter contest following at 9:45 a.m.
