Distance runners shine on day two of Larry Wieczorek Invitational

Zack Snider wins 3000-meter race
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The 11th-ranked Wisconsin men's track and field team returned to the University of Iowa for the second day of the Larry Wieczorek Invitationa on Saturday.
The distance runners shined with four Badgers placing in the top 10 in the 3,000 meters and five Badgers placing top 20 in the one mile premier race.
Redshirt senior Zack Snider brought home gold in the premier 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 8 minutes, 6.99 seconds. Three additional Badgers placed in the top 10 which included Seth Hirsch (fourth in 8:11.80), Conor Perreault (eighth in 8:17.51) and Rowen Ellenberg (10th in 8:30.73).
Wisconsin also had success in the premier mile run with five Badgers placing among the top 20. Redshirt senior Olin Hacker led the way for the Badgers placing fifth with a time of 4:04.87. Sophomore Shuaib Aljabaly and redshirt senior Ben Eidenschink claimed 13th and 14th place, respectively, in 4:09.81 and 4:11.22.
Two additional Badgers competed in the open mile race with freshman Jack Meijer running second in 4:12.25.
Senior Rashid Coulibaly finished fifth in the pole vault, clearing 16 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
Sophomore Peyton Frankenreider competed in the triple jump for the first time in his collegiate career, placing seventh with a jump of 47-7 3/4.
Sophomore Stacey Boyd II led the Badgers in the 60 meters, placing 14th with a time of 6.99. Sophomore Peyton Frankenreider was the first to finish for the Badgers in the premier 60-meter hurdles, placing 14th in 8.47. Zach Lorbeck came in not far behind, claiming 15th with a time of 8.51.
The men's 4x400-meter relay closed out the two day meet. The squad of Boyd II, Sam McHone, Liam Belson and Rhys Koch secured a ninth-place finish with a time of 3:21.90.
Up next, Wisconsin's field athletes head to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to compete in the Jack Jennett Open on Friday.
