MADISON, Wis. - The No. 25 Wisconsin women's field team continues its 2020 indoor season this Friday at the Jack Jennett Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Badgers are sending just their field event athletes to the meet, which UW competitors beginning on Friday at 11:15 a.m., with the men's and women's high jump.

1. STRONG START: The Badgers kicked off their 2020 indoor season, by placing sixth at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational last weekend. Freshman Victoria Heiligenthal won the 3000-meter title in 9 minutes, 55.01 seconds, breaking the meet record. Josie Schaefer won the shot put in a personal best of 54 feet, 1 ¼ inches and also took the weight throw at 54-1 1/4. Madison Mooney won the 1000-meter run in 2:47.47.
2. EIGHT ATHLETES: Dailey Albino, Rayce Albino, Phoebe Edwards, Mackenzie Heyroth, Jordan Hirsbrunner, Hailey Orlowski, Olivia Roberts and Josie Schafer will all compete this Friday at the Jack Jennett Open. This will be the season debut for Dailey Albino and Edwards. All other athletes competed last weekend at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.
3. AMAZING ALICIA: Alicia Monson has not made her 2020 indoor track debut yet but has been invited to compete for the second year in a row at the Millrose Games in New York. where she stunned the crowd last year, winning the 3000 meters in 8:45.97. The 113th Millrose Games will take place Feb. 8 with Monson and Oliver Hoare competing for Wisconsin. The Millrose games are a prestigious and longest running indoor track competition where the best of the best runners in the world are invited to compete.
4. PRESEASON RANKING: The USTFCCCA released preseason national coaches poll two weeks ago, placing Wisconsin at No. 25 nationally. Monson has the top returning time in the 3,000 meters (8:45.97) and ranks ninth in the 5,000 meters (15:31.26).
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will send their sprinters, middle distance and distance runners as well as their horizontal jumpers to the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Indiana, on Jan. 31-Feb. 1. UW's multi-event athletes and vertical jumpers head to the Jack Johnson Classic in Minneapolis on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
