MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field team will separate and travel to both Indiana for the Indiana Relays and Minnesota for the Jack Johnson Classic this weekend. Sprinters, middle distance and distance runners as well as horizontal jumpers will head to Indiana while multi-event athletes and vertical jumpers travel to Minnesota. Events at Indiana begin at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and at 9:05 a.m. ET on Saturday. Events at Minnesota begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

1. LAST TIME OUT: Three members of the Badgers won events at the Jack Jennett Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa, last Friday. Josie Schaefer won the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 8 1/4 inches, Phoebe Edwards soared 19-2 1/2 to win the long jump, and Rayce Albino cleared 13-1 1/2 to win the pole vault.
2. BACK IN ACTION: This week 26 athletes will be traveling to Indiana Relays and six athletes will travel to Minnesota for the Jack Johnson Classic. This will be the season debut for Alicia Monson and Bianca Stubler, both athletes are 2019 NCAA qualifiers. Monson competed in the 3000 meters and 5000 meters at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships, where she won the 5000 meters and placed 10th in the 3000 meters. Stubler finished 31st in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.53 and anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor West Preliminary.
3. AMAZING ALICIA: Alicia Monson has been invited to compete for the second year in a row at the Millrose Games in New York. where she stunned the crowd last year, winning the 3000 meters in 8:45.97. The 113th Millrose Games will take place Feb. 8 with Monson and Oliver Hoare competing for Wisconsin. The Millrose games are a prestigious and longest running indoor track competition where the best of the best runners in the world are invited to compete.Â
4. WEEK 1 RANKINGS: The USTFCCCA released week one national and regional coaches poll this week, placing Wisconsin at No. 11 in the Great Lakes Regional. Josie Schaefer ranks No. 13 in the country for the women's shot put with a throw of 54-1 1/4, which moved her into third place on Wisconsin's indoor all-time performance list.Â
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will send their sprinters and horizontal jumpers to the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Indiana, on Feb.7-8. Alicia Monson and Oliver Hoare will head to the Millrose Games in New York on Feb. 8. UW Throws will head to the Red Hawk Invitational in Ripon, Wisconsin on Feb. 8.Â
