Lorbeck holds heptathlon lead at Minnesota

Badgers complete day one in Indiana and Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The 16th-ranked Wisconsin men's track and field team sent athletes to both Minnesota for the Jack Johnson Classic and Indiana for the Indiana Relays on Friday, opening the pair of two-day meets.

Zach Lorbeck led the way for the Badgers in the heptathlon at the Jack Johnson Classic and, through four of seven events, leads the field with a score of 3,376 points. The senior from Green Bay posted the field's best marks in the high jump, with a clearance of 6 feet, 10 1/4 inches, and the 60 meters, with a time of 6.89 seconds. He claimed the second-best marks in both the shot put, with a throw of 46-6 1/4, and the long jump, at 23-2.

Redshirt freshman Cade Amborn stands seventh, with a score of 2,789 points. He Amborn placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 41-4 3/4. He went on to take fifth in the high jump (6-3 1/4), sixth in the long jump (21-6 1/4) and 11th in the 60 meters (7.49). 

Freshman Max Herkert completed the first day of competition in the heptathlon in 10th place, with a score of 2,478.

Sophomore Colin Enz kicked off day one of the Indiana Relays for the Badgers by winning the 600 meters with a time of 1:20.90, less than half a second off from his personal best of 1:20.51.

Redshirt freshman Ansel Fellman took fifth in the mile with a time of 4:15.96 and redshirt sophomore Noah Jacobs came in right behind with a time of 4:16.05 to claim sixth place.

Sophomore Kavanaugh FitzPatrick finished seventh in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:35.07, and freshman David Vannucchi took 11th with a time of 8:40.00.

Sophomore Sam McHone and redshirt freshman Jon Burt both placed top 25 in the 60 meters.
