Seven Badgers earn their way onto UWs all-time top performers list
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Wisconsin women's track and field finished this weekend's split-squad competition on Saturday at Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Indiana. Twenty-six Badgers competed at Indiana Relays this weekend including NCAA qualifiers Amy Davis, Alicia Monson, Alissa Niggemann and Bianca Stubler, all making their 2020 track debuts.
Senior Alicia Monson, who made her indoor season debut on Saturday, keeps rewriting history after winning the one mile fast section with a time of 4 minutes, 38.18 seconds. Monson's time moves her into sixth place in the country and fifth on the Wisconsin all-time indoor performers list.
The true freshman duo of Destiny Huven and Melissa Symons had strong performances in their second collegiate meet, with both advancing to Saturday's final in the 60-meter hurdles on Friday night. The pair finished second and fifth, respectively, with Huven running 8.59 and Symons running 8.76. Both women earned themselves a spot on Wisconsin's all-time top indoor performers list. Huven has moved into seventh on the list with her Friday night time of 8.56 and Symons moves into eighth with her time of 8.66.
The Wisconsin "A" 4x400-meter relay consisting of Haley Lubow, Bianca Stubler, Ali Dorn and Gabby DesRosiers placed second in a competitive field with a time of 3:43.63. This performance moves the relay team into third on the Wisconsin all-time top indoor performers list. Lubow, Stubler and DesRosiers are not strangers to Wisconsin's all-time top indoor performers list as these three women are part of the school-record relay squad. Lubow also finished ninth in the open 400 meters in 57.34.
Amy Davis had an incredible day running unattached for the Badgers. Davis won the 3000 meter fast section with a time of 9:16.32, one of the fastest times in the country this year.
Up next, the Badgers send their sprinters, and their horizontal jumpers to the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, on Feb. 7-8. Monson and Oliver Hoare are headed to the prestigious Millrose Games in New York on Feb. 8. Uw's throwers head to Ripon, Wisconsin, for the Red Hawk Invitational on Feb. 8.
