Huven's Huge Day: freshman leads the way for Wisconsin

Four Badgers earn their way onto the teams top performer's list

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Wisconsin women's track and field team kicked off a weekend of three different meets this weekend with the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, on Friday.
It was a record-setting day for true freshman Destiny Huven as she ran a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, advancing to the finals with a time of 8.55 seconds. Fellow freshman Melissa Symons wasn't far behind, finishing 15th with a time of 8.75. Last weekend, the pair earned themselves a spot on Wisconsin's all-time top indoor performers list. Huven improved her time from last week and still sits in seventh all time with Symons in eighth. Huven also competed in the 60-meter dash, finishing 11th with a time of 7.61, moving her into 10th on Wisconsin's top performance list.
The Wisconsin's distance medley relay squad consisting of Liz Bohn, Tatum Straw, Hannah Reale and Peyton Sippy placed fourth with a time of 11:54.50. This is Wisconsin's first time competing in the DMR this season.
Bianca Stubler and Ali Dorn ran an impressive races in the 600 meters. Stubler finished seventh with a time of 1:31.39 to move her up from 10th to seventh on Wisconsin's all-time top performers list. Dorn finished ninth with a time of 1:31.56, tying her with Amanda Donath for eighth on the list. This marks the first time Dorn has earned a spot on the top-10 list.Â
Taylor Gilling rounded off the list of Badgers earning spots on Wisconsin's all-time top indoor performance list after finishing 14th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.76. Gilling's time was good enough to move her into eighth on Wisconsin's list. Gilling sits behind current teammate Gabby DesRosiers.Â
Josie Schaefer and Olivia Roberts will look to continue their impressive start to their seasons competing in the shot put and weight throw at the Red Hawk Invitational in Ripon, Wisconsin.Â
The Badgers will continue competition tomorrow in South Bend. Action starts tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. CT. Action at the Red Hawk Invitational starts at 11 a.m. while Monson will run at 4:39 p.m. ET at the Millrose Games.Â

Alicia Monson will run the 3000 meters tomorrow at the 113th Millrose Games.
