Wisconsin Head Coach Greg Gard
Opening Statement:
"Really happy for our guys to be able to compete against that team. It was a hard fought game. Both teams were really physical. I thought we were much better on the glass today than we were two months ago in New Jersey. The stats show that we got a lot of contributions from a lot of different people, but regardless of what the numbers say, I thought everybody did some good things when they were on the floor."
On production from Micah Potter and Nate Reuvers:
"I thought they were both good in spurts. Micah gave us a big boost in the second half with a couple of those 3s and Nate finished better around the rim. I thought they complemented each other pretty well, and we needed it with as big and physical as (Rutgers is). We were able to shovel guys in, which is a luxury we didn't have when we were there two months ago, so that helped."
On having a number of guys contribute with good shooting performances:
"It helps when you have multiple shooters on the floor. The way the game is now, the 3 is such a vital piece of the game that I think having multiple shooters is almost a necessity. When you have bigs that can shoot the ball too, that just makes the offense a little easier."
D'Mitrik Trice
On how the team has grown, so much so that they're in a tie for second in the Big Ten:
"Honestly, I think the biggest thing is that we stuck together. We've come closer with everything that has happened to this team this whole year. I think those things have just made us stronger as a team. We're doing more things off the court, doing things together in the locker room. We just feel like we're a team, we're a family. I think that has really helped when we get out there on the court."
On how the team has changed on the court:
"I think the biggest thing is trust. I think that I trust these guys to knock down shots and make the right reads and make the right plays. Everybody is feeling good right now about where they are and where they fit in the offense. Just being together as a unit and having five guys become one. I think that's the biggest thing for our success lately."
Micah Potter
On showcasing emotion and fun during a scoring run in the game:
"It's been a lot of fun. Obviously, with home-court advantage, you want to take advantage of it. Just interacting with the crowd a little bit and it gets them going. I don't know if you see me on the sideline trying to get them hyped up too. I'm doing whatever possible to get them going. Just having fun. It's basketball. It's a game. If you're not having fun doing it, you shouldn't be playing it. I just try to have as much fun doing it as possible.
Brevin Pritzl
On the team avenging losses to teams from earlier in the season:
"Coach Gard is big on telling us about retaking tests. We failed the first test, now we get a chance to do it again. We've just got to improve on where we've got wronged. A lot of that is understanding what we went through on film and what he said we messed up on. Then it's taking action on it to circle the wagons, whatever you want to say, but execute the game plan better."
