MADISON, Wis. - The No.24 ranked Wisconsin men's track and field team traveled to Geneva, Ohio, to compete in the Big Ten Championships. The Badgers wrapped up the first day of the indoor championships on Friday, sitting in fourth place in the team race with 21 points.
All hail Hoare
Senior
Olli Hoare claimed his eighth Big Ten title this afternoon as he won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8 minutes, 13.65 seconds. He has the opportunity to claim his ninth tomorrow as he competes in the finals for the mile. Hoare currently holds the No.1 mile time in the country.
Also competing in the 3,000 meters was freshman
Jackson Sharp, who ran the race in 8:21.01 to finish 10th. Freshman
Rowen Ellenberg finished 13th in 8:26.84 and redshirt freshman
Shuaib Aljabaly finished 16th in 8:29.40.
Lorbeck leads heptathlon
Zach Lorbeck holds the heptathlon lead going into day two of the Big Ten Championships with a score of 3,490 points. The redshirt senior won three of the four events, which included the long jump with a leap of 24 feet, 3 3/4 inches, the shot put with a toss of 48-8 and tied for first in the high jump with a clearance of 6-10 1/4. Lorbeck also placed third in the 60 meters with a time of 6.92.

Cade Amborn sits in 11th-place with a score of 2,807 points and freshman
Max Herkert will go into day two sitting in 15th place with 2,417 points.
Redshirt sophomore
Hudson Kugel placed second in his heat and sixth overall in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.79 to advance to the Saturday's final. Kugel currently holds the No.2 800 meter time in the Big Ten from his performance at the Husky Classic. Junior
Austin Rendon will also run in the final heat tomorrow as he finished ninth overall in the preliminary round with a time of 1:52.92.

In addition to leading the heptathlon after the first day, Lorbeck claimed a PR in the open long jump, finishing second with a mark of 24-5 3/4.
Senior
Rashid Coulibaly helped the Badgers get some points up on the board as he secured a seventh-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 16-11 1/2.
The Badgers also picked up one point in the distance medley relay as the quartet of
Jack Meijer,
Jon Burt,
Austin Rendon, and
Tannor Wagner finished eighth in 9:50.21.
Redshirt senior
Tucker Wedig led the way for the throwers as he placed ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 66-7. Redshirt
Austin Glynn was not far behind as he came in 10th with a personal-best mark of 66-6 which puts him at No.5 all-time at Wisconsin. Redshirt senior
Jamar Manning closed it out with a personal-best mark of 65-2 3/4 to finish 13th and place him at No.6 all-time at Wisconsin.
The Badgers will begin day two of competition beginning with the heptathlon 60-meter hurdles, which is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. ET.
