GENEVA, Ohio - The No.24 ranked Wisconsin men's track and field team wrapped up the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Saturday at The Spire. Wisconsin finished in seventh place as a team with 51 points, crowned two event champions.
Hoare and Lorbeck win Big Ten titles
Olli Hoare did not slow down after he was crowned Big Ten champion in the 3,000 meters on Friday. The Sydney, Australia native, kept with his momentum and secured the ninth Big Ten title of his career, winning the mile in 4 minutes, 9.42 seconds. Hoare ran towards the front of the pack during the entire race until the final lap where he ran by Nebraska's George Kusche, who finished third in 4:09.68, and Indiana's Matthew Schadler, who was the runner-up in 4:09.65.
Zach Lorbeck had a phenomenal performance in the heptathlon, winning three of the seven events and placing in the top three in an additional two events. The Green Bay native, racked up an impressive 5,833 points, edging his previous personal best by 158 points, which earned him his first Big Ten title and moved him up to No.3 on Wisconsin's all-time indoor performance list. Cade Amborn finished in 10th-place with 5,037 points and freshman
Max Herkert finished in 13th-place with 4,646 points.

Three other Badgers added points for Wisconsin in their respective events.

Hudson Kugel secured bronze in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.10. Junior
Austin Rendon also scored points in the 800 meters as he placed eighth with a time of 1:50.46.
Sophomore
Peyton Frankenreider placed sixth in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 48-11 3/4 (14.93m), six inches better than his previous record.
Up Next
The Badgers have two weeks off to prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14. Qualifiers will be announced on Tuesday for the meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
