Five things to know: Badgers host DePaul and Denver

Week three of tennis brings two team to Nielsen

MADISON, Wis. – Coming off a three-win weekend, the Wisconsin women's tennis team is ready to get back to work against DePaul and Denver this weekend. UW faces DePaul on Friday at 5 p.m. and Denver on Sunday at 11 a.m. Here are five things you need to know before the matches at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

1. GOOD THINGS COME IN THREE'S: Not only did the Badgers win three matches this past weekend to get the weekend sweep over Drake, NIU and Marquette, but three Badgers went undefeated in singles play to lead Wisconsin to victory. Antonela Stoica, Xinyu Cai and Anna Makarova all won each of their singles matches with Stoica and Cai going 3-0 and Makarova going 2-0.

2. BATTLE BACK: For the second time this season, the Badgers battled back to a match win after dropping the opening doubles point. Against Marquette Sunday, Wisconsin took an early 1-0 deficit, but were able to win its first four singles matches to clinch a Badger victory.

3. SCOUTING DEPAUL: The Blue Demons currently rest with a 3-0 season record, defeating Western Michigan, Illinois State and Michigan State. Before their season started, freshman Hristina Djokic was honored as the Big East Female Athlete of the Week.

4. SCOUTING DENVER: The Pioneer's boast a 3-1 overall record so far this year, beating Air Force, Gonzaga and USF while falling to Washington State. They will face DePaul Saturday before taking on Wisconsin. Sophomores Taylor Melville and Anna Riedmiller have both stayed perfect in singles at a 2-0 singles mark. Melville also boasts a Summit League Player of the Week title from two weeks ago. Wisconsin also has the potential to see their first ranked singles opponent in No. 114 Britt Pursell.
