Barela in top half of field
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— The Wisconsin men's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of play at the General Hackler Championship on Monday evening. The team currently sits in 15th place with a total 608 (+32).
Leading for the Badgers is Griffin Barela. After carding a four-over-par 76 in the first round, the junior went on to improve five strokes in the second round, firing a one-under 71 and coming in at three-over-par 147.
Following Barela is Coalter Smith. The freshman shot a five-over-par 78 in the first round and also cut five strokes in the second round. He is now at seven-over-par 151.
Round three tee times start Tuesday morning at 6:40 a.m. CT.
