Undergraduate guard transfers to play for the Badgers
MADISON, Wis. – Head coach Jonathan Tsipis announced Wednesday that undergraduate-transfer Lexi Duckett will be joining the Wisconsin women's basketball program.
A 5-foot-11 guard from Daytona Beach, Florida, Duckett spent her freshman season at North Carolina appearing in 17 games.
Ranked No. 34 nationally and a three-star recruit by Prospects Nation, Duckett had a breakout junior year at DME Sports Academy for Coach Michael Panaggio, averaging 16 points, five rebounds and four assists per game. She was recognized as the 2018 Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA) Player of the Year.
Duckett also competed for Coach Brad Ridenour at Father Lopez Catholic High School, where she holds a school record for scoring 48 points during a 2017 playoff game. She was also named Team MVP after averaging 21 points per game as a sophomore and team Offensive Player of the year with 19.4 points per game as a freshman.
Coach Tsipis on Duckett: "We are extremely excited to have Lexi Duckett join the Wisconsin Women's Basketball family as a transfer. We had the good fortune to recruit Lexi as a high school player where she was one of the Top 50 players in the country. Lexi can score in many different ways and is lethal coming off screens and attacking in transition. She will add more athleticism defensively with her length and instincts. Her versatility will be beneficial on both ends of the court."
