
Hacker, Monson named first-team Academic All-Americans

Badger runners honored for outstanding academics and athletics
MADISON, Wis. – Olin Hacker, a senior on the Wisconsin men's cross country, and track and field teams, and Alicia Monson, a senior on the Badger women's cross country, and track and field teams, have earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First-Team Academic All-America honors. Hacker moves up from his second-team Academic All-America award last season while Monson improves from her third-team selection in 2019.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Hacker has a 3.95 cumulative grade point average in biology and is a 2019 first-team All-American as a member of the distance medley relay. The Madison native was also a 2019 Big Ten Conference champion as a member of the DMR. Hacker earned two All-Big Ten honors and was a two-time NCAA Great Lakes All-Region performer in cross country.
Off the course and track, Hacker was a four-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and eight-time Academic All-Big Ten in track and cross country. He also earned four U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors in track and three in cross country.
Monson has a 3.82 cumulative GPA in nutritional sciences and is a six-time All-American in track and cross country. She won the 2019 NCAA Indoor title in the 5,000 meters and finished second at the 2019 NCAA Cross Country championships. The Amery, Wisconsin, native set the Big Ten and school record of 8 minutes, 45.97 seconds in the indoor 3,000 meters when she won the 2019 Millrose Games title.  A five-time Big Ten champion, Monson was named the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, and the 2018 and 2019 Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
Academically, Monson was a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and six-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. She was named the 2019 USTFCCCA Cross Country Academic All-American of the Year while also earning eight USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
