Apte will compete for the Badgers beginning this fall
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women's tennis head coach Kelcy McKenna announced Friday that Anisha Apte will attend the University of Wisconsin and compete for the Badgers beginning in the Fall of 2021.
A native of Austin, Texas, Apte is a four-star recruit ranked among the top five in the state of Texas. With a well-regarded Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), Apte is ranked 85th in the country.
"Anisha's experience playing high-level junior tennis and Texas high school team tennis will make her a unique addition to our program," McKenna said. "Her work ethic fits extremely well with the developmental emphasis of Wisconsin tennis and she consistently strives for greatness in all areas of her life. We are thrilled to welcome Anisha to Madison and look forward to watching her journey as a Badger unfold."
A 6A doubles champion in 2019 while playing for Vandegrift High School, Apte made noise in 2020 on the national scene advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITF L4 Tournament for a third straight year.Â
During her freshman year, Apte won two national Level 3s titles in doubles and was named the Freshman of the Year at Vandegrift High School.
"The Wisconsin tennis program is a very reputable and successful program that has an amazing, well-rounded group of individuals welcoming you in with open arms," Apte said. "UW-Madison also has an incredible biology program, one where I can see myself furthering for the better in biological sciences and one where I am able to develop as a student."
