Badgers travel to Iowa City for first away meet

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field team travels to Iowa City, Iowa, to compete in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational this weekend for their first road meet of the season. The Badgers take on Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska in the two-day meet that begins at noon on both days.
The meet will be streamed live on B1G Network + ($) or follow live results on Wayzata Results. Fans can also follow the action on Instagram and Twitter (@BadgerTrackXC) and catch a recap following the meet on UWBadgers.com.
1. SCHAEFER'S B1G DAY: Josie Schaefer not only broke the Wisconsin school record for the shot put last Saturday, she broke the Big Ten record that had been in place since 2011 with her throw of 59 feet, 4 1/4 inches. Schaefer won the shot put at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational last year with a mark of 54-1 1/4. The current national leader in the shot put is the reigning Big Ten Field Event Athlete of the Week.Â
2. ROBBINS RUNS IMPRESSIVE DEBUT: Rookie Kiley Robbins began her career as a Badger with a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash at the Badger Icebreaker last weekend, crossing in 7.51 seconds. She ties for third in the Big Ten and will be challenged by Minnesota's Amira Young (7.34) and Akilah Lewis (7.51).
3. HUVEN STAYS CONSISTENT: Sophomore Destiny Huven continues to highlight her hurdle talent as she won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.55 last Saturday. As a freshman Huven placed fourth in 8.50. Huven ties for fifth in the Big Ten and will be challenged by Iowa's Paige Magee (8.46) and Tionna Tobias (8.50).
4. LINDEMAN LAUNCHES PRS: Redshirt freshman Chloe Lindeman scored two personal bests last Saturday. Lindeman threw personal record marks in both the weight throw (66-5 1/2) and the shot put (52-2), improvements of seven and five feet, respectively. Lindeman ranks fourth in the weight throw among Big Ten competitors and will see a challenge this weekend from Minnesota's Tess Keyzers (68-2 1/2) and Iowa's Amanda Howe (62-8 1/2).Â
5. SPRINTING DORN: Sophomore Ali Dorn won the 600 meters at the Badger Icebreaker in 1:30.91, which ranks sixth in the Big Ten. Iowa's Mallory King ranks second in the Big Ten in 1:29.47 while Minnesota'a Val Larson ranks fifth in 1:30.86.
