Five Things to Know: Badgers off to ITA Midwest Regional

Wisconsin set to compete with complete roster for first time this season
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin's men's tennis team is traveling in full force to East Lansing, Mich., for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.
The Badgers have sent pairings to compete in three previous events this fall but will be a full-team participant this weekend.
Daniel Nuzhny will open things up in the qualifying draw on Thursday, with the rest of the team beginning play on Friday. Gabriel Huber's availability for singles matches is yet to be determined due to an injury.
The full draw is available via the ITA's website, where a livestream of the tournament's matches is also available through the conclusion of the event Monday.
Here are five things to know heading into the tournament:
1. Dzhurinskiy's Season Debut: This weekend's tournament will be the first time Tim Dzhurinskiy and Gabriel Huber will see the court for the Badgers this Fall. Dzhurinskiy, a sophomore from California, debuted last season with a 4-4 overall record.. As for doubles, he competed in the No.1 spot with Huber, No. 2 spot with Jared Pratt, and No. 3 spot with Mihailo Popovic for a 10-8 overall record. Dzhurinskiy went undefeated in tournament play for both singles (3-0) and doubles (3-0).
2. Bounce-Back Season for Huber: Huber, a junior from Austria, posted a 7-5 overall record during his second year before a season-ending injury. He played at No. 1 singles for five matches and was ranked No. 104 in the ITA singles rankings. Huber was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week in February after an undefeated weekend in singles and doubles at the Badger Invitational. In doubles, he finished with a 7-5 overall record, competing at the No. 1 doubles spot with Dzhurinskiy and Robin Parts.
3. Spring Schedule Set: The Badgers' spring tennis schedule has been set, with their first match taking place at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Jan. 21. Wisconsin will host nine of its 24 total matches at home, including the 2022 Big Ten Tournament from April 28 through May 1.
