Badgers tie Iowa in regular season finale

Jaskaniec scores 8th goal of the season

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's soccer team drew Iowa 1-1 in a double overtime match on Sunday at the McClimon Soccer Complex.

The Badgers (8-4-3, 3-3-3 Big Ten) celebrated their senior class ahead of their final home match of the regular season.

Iowa (11-5-1, 4-4-0 Big Ten) took an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the sixth minute.

The Badgers took their first corner kick of the game in the 31st minute and continued to battle to overcome the deficit.

With just 15 seconds remaining in the first half, Emma Jackaniec scored her eighth goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. She swept in and took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net and scored in the bottom right of the goal with her left foot.

Wisconsin led 4-1 in both shots and corner kicks after the first 45 minutes.

The Badgers took two more shots and didn't allow a single shot from Iowa in the second half. Neither team cracked the 1-1 tie in regulation, leading to the Badgers' second straight overtime matchup.

The two teams battled in a pair of overtime periods, but neither squad was able to break the deadlock.

Notes to Know:
- UW had seven shots on goal to Iowa's lone shot on target
- The Badgers had eight corner kicks while the Hawkeyes had one
- UW has now played in nine overtime contests this year

"I felt like the entire team was playing for the seniors. We realized its more than just ourselves and this is a team. Heading into the Big Ten Tournament is really exciting, we're playing Rutgers who's the number one seed and very highly ranked in the country so it will be a challenge but we're up for it and ready to work.
