Head Coach Mark Johnson
On the game:
"The first period, I wasn't overly happy with how we played. I didn't think we did enough in the neutral zone to manage the puck and from the faceoff dots to the boards behind the net we weren't working, so they hemmed us in three or four shifts and they were outworking us. I made a couple of points between periods that if we were going to do something we needed to be better in those areas. What I liked about the first eight minutes of the second period is that we were moving our feet, we were getting the puck and we were transitioning quick and those resulted in breakaways and scoring opportunities and people finding the back of the net."
On the second period:
"It started with the second shift that we were moving our feet, our transition was quick and we were creating outnumbered situations. You look at a bunch in the second period, we were moving the puck through the neutral zone quickly, we were getting speed and our transitioning was good. The end result was outnumbered situations, quick scoring opportunities and people finding the back of the net. Yesterday, we had some similar stuff going on, but we couldn't get the puck in the back of the net.Â
Senior forward Daryl Watts
On climbing the record board:
"It's definitely an honor and cool to climb a record ranking. But it's definitely not my focus when I get on the ice. I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help the team win and hopefully help win another National Championship."
Senior forward Caitlin Schneider
On getting the game rolling:Â
"Yeah I think kind of as a team we thought that, if we could get one in on her we could get a couple. I mean last night the goalie played unreal and she made some good saves today. But we were able to capitalize on that."
Up Next:
The Badgers have a bye this upcoming weekend. The team will be back on November 20 and 21 as they travel to St. Paul to take on St. Thomas. Both games will start at 2 p.m.
