CEDAR FALLS, Iowa —
Cale Anderson and
Graham Calhoun competed in the UNI Open at the University of Northern Iowa on Saturday.
Anderson and Calhoun, both freshmen for the Badgers, were the lone wrestlers representing Wisconsin unattached in Cedar Falls, Iowa. In the first round of the tournament, Anderson, wrestling at 157 pounds, fell to Brayton Lee of Minnesota by a tech fall (24-9). In the consolation sector of the first round, Anderson was brought down by Kaleb Olejniczak of Northern Iowa by major decision (11-3).
Calhoun, wrestling at 174 pounds, lost to Bailee O'Reilly of Gopher Wrestling Club - RTC by decision (13-6) in the first round. Calhoun got a bye in the consolation side of the bracket for the first round. During the second round in consolation, Calhoun defeated Carson Babcock of Northern Iowa by decision (9-4). During the third round in consolation, the Plymouth, Indiana, native lost to Julien Broderson of Iowa State in a hard-fought battle by decision (8-4).Â
