Hudson Kugel secured gold on day one of the Hawkeye B1G Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Sharp, who is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Cross Country championships, won the premier mile run. The sophomore became the eighth Badger to break the four-minute mark, breaking the tape in 3 minutes, 59.25 seconds, which ranks sixth on the UW all-time indoor list.
Ansel Fellman also competed in the premier mile, crossing the line in 4:09.89 to lock in sixth place. In the open mile,
Nick Hruskoci took second in 4:14.45.

Kugel was the second Badger on the day to secure gold, winning the 800 meters in 1:53.40.
Tannor Wagner also secured a top-five finish, crossing the line in 1:55.65 for fourth.

Shuaib Aljabaly,
Seth Hirsch, and
Evan Bishop all finished in the top five of the men's 5k. Aljabaly led the way and secured silver with a time of 14:07.12 while Hirsch secured bronze in 14:08.34. Bishop rounded out the effort with his fifth-place finish in 14:20.13.

In the sprints, freshman
Sam Amusan competed in the 60-meter dash, running 6.93 in the semifinals, which qualified him to run the finals where he placed eighth in 7.22.

The Badgers compete in day two of the Hawkeye B1G Invitational on Saturday. The men's field events start at noon and track events start at 1:20 p.m.
