Badgers complete day one of Hawkeye B1G Invitational

Top-5 finishes were trend on day one
IOWA CITY, Iowa - Wisconsin traveled to Iowa City, Iowa, to compete in the Hawkeye B1G Invitational on Friday afternoon. After the first day of competition, the Badgers have racked up multiple top-five finishes as well as numerous personal records.
Freshman standout Kiley Robbins secured silver in the premier 60-meter dash finals, coming in at a speedy 7.37. Sophomore Taylor Gilling just missed the finals, finishing ninth in the semifinals in 7.63.Â
Freshman Ellen Van Doorn snagged a second-place finish in the open mile run, coming in with a time of 5:06.44, less than two seconds behind Purdue's Payne Turney, who took first in 5:05.26. In the premier mile, junior Madison Mooney ran a personal record, which earned her a silver medal. Mooney crossed the finish line in 4:45.92, nearly five seconds faster than her previous record.
Sophomore Alexa Westley brought home bronze in the premier 5000-meter run, crossing the line in 16:38.93, less than five seconds behind first-place finisher Rachel McCardell, who won in 16:34.41. Sophomore Sarah Shulze crossed the line in 16:58.24, which put her in fifth place.
Hailey Orlowski snagged a fifth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12-9 1/2.
Senior Alissa Niggemann and freshman Anna Schoesser competed in the premier mile run, placing sixth and ninth, respectively, in 4:50.86 and 5:03.77.

Junior Morgan Parzych took home gold in the open 400-meter dash, breaking the tape in 56.63 seconds, while teammates Bianca Stubler and Ali Dorn competed in the premier 400 meters. Other Notable Performances
Four additional Badgers placed top-10 in the 5000-meter run. Peyton Sippy placed sixth, crossing the line in 17:02.14. Samantha Stieve came in less than a second behind Sippy, placing seventh in 17:02.54. Heidi Heuerman (17:20.85) and Vivian Hacker (17:22.60) placed ninth and 10th, respectively, to close out the top-10 for the. Badgers.Senior Alissa Niggemann and freshman Anna Schoesser competed in the premier mile run, placing sixth and ninth, respectively, in 4:50.86 and 5:03.77.
